چکیده

Abstract Microbial biodegradation of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is an attractive, ecofriendly, and cost‐efficient clean‐up technique for reclaiming POP‐contaminated environments. In the last few decades, number publications documenting POP‐degrading microbes, enzymes, experimental data sets has continuously increased, necessitating development a dedicated web resource that catalogs consolidated information on microbes tools to facilitate integrative analysis POP degradation sets. To address this knowledge gap, we developed Biodegradation Persistent Organic Pollutants Database (mibPOPdb) by accumulating microbial from public domain manually curating published scientific literature. Currently, in mibPOPdb, there are 9215 strain entries, including 184 gene (sub)families, 100 48 pathways, 593 intermediate compounds identified POP‐biodegradation processes, 32 toxic listed under Stockholm Convention environmental treaty. Besides standard database functionalities, which include searching, browsing, retrieval provide suite bioinformatics services comparative users' own against mibPOPdb entries. Additionally, built Graph Neural Network‐based prediction model biodegradability classification chemicals. The predictive exhibited good performance high accuracy. free data‐sharing platform designated promote research microbial‐based POPs fills long‐standing gap protection research. Persistent Organic Pollutants ("POPs")

Strictly speaking, all toxins entering the environment can be regarded as environmental poisons. Certain pollutants can, acting over long periods, harm living organisms even in low concentrations. This means that pollutants that are stable and thus persistent have a great ability to act as environmental poisons. Their stability means not only that their effects are long-lasting, but also that t...

Serum Persistent Organic Pollutants

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are manmade organic chemicals that remain in the environment for years or decades. POPs are of special concern because they often remain toxic for decades or longer after release to the environment. The more persistent a toxic chemical is, the greater the probability for human exposure over time. Because they circulate globally long after being released into...

Persistent Organic Pollutants in Egypt - an Overview

Over the past few decades, scientists around the world have revealed the sinister impacts that persistent organic pollutants (POPs) could inflect on man and his environment. Growing interest in monitoring and managing POPs was building up at a worldwide level and Egypt was no exception. Egypt has ratified the Stockholm Convention for controlling the emission of POPs and had its National Impleme...

Chapter 8 Persistent Organic Pollutants

The rapid growth in chemical and agrochemical industries during the last century have resulted in the environmental releases of a large number of new chemical compounds into the environment. According to the OECD, the daily use of chemicals includes about 70,000 mainly organic synthetic chemicals, and the number increases continuously (Schwarzenbach et al. 1993). Over the last decades, there ha...
